This post-doctoral role is an appointment to “#refugeeswelcome in parks: Wellbeing and Inclusion in Public Open Space”. This is an AHRC (Arts and Humanities Research Council) funded research project within the Connected Communities programme. The #refugeeswelcome in parks project focuses on embedding awareness of the potential of spending time in urban public open space to improve refugee wellbeing and inclusion, with specific attention to addressing existing barriers and improving the integration of initiatives between refugee welfare and public space management. The Research Assistant will be based in Sheffield and support the delivery of the project objectives with a primary focus on the local Sheffield context and the UK national context, with some contextual work scoping existing practice in a range of European countries. The key tasks of the job are focused on stakeholder engagement, including qualitative interviews with government and third sector professionals, and with refugees in Sheffield. The post-holder will have responsibility for shaping these new engagements into a meaningful accessible narrative which can support strategic initiatives at a national level.
